Advancement/ Annual Fund
 Dear Parents and Friends, The Southern author, Hodding Carter once wrote “There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings.” This simple imagery of apparent opposites – roots and wings – communicates a profound reality. We, as the caregivers of our children, must provide in equal balance the stability of roots and the courage to allow our children to use what we have taught them to make a difference in the world. At Villa Maria Academy, we seek to fulfill this legacy on a daily basis by providing the spiritual, moral, academic and social foundations of education. We seek to plant the tenets of Christian living and the core values of respect and reverence within the fertile soil of each student’s heart and soul nurturing growth with care, kindness and compassion. We graft onto that deep root the love of learning, the development of critical thinking skills and the nurturing of creativity, beauty and truth. We provide learning experiences which strengthen and multiply the root, helping it to grow deeper and stronger. All this is done over the period of years as our students maximize their capabilities, develop positive and responsible self-images and use their gifts in service to others. We can say with conviction that our students become confident and competent leaders ready to know and use the power of their influence to make a difference in the world. As a parent or friend of a Villa Maria student, you already realize the value of a VMA education. You are also aware of the dedication and passion of the administration and faculty to offer the best learning environment and experience for every student. We need your help. Our Annual Fund provides financial support for additional teaching and learning resources for every student. We count on your assistance to help us tend to the spiritual, moral and academic growth of our students. We know with certainty together we can provide an educational environment which nourishes and nurtures our students to reach their full potential. With respect and gratitude, Sister Susan Joseph, IHM - Principal Annual Fund Gifts to Villa Maria Academy's Annual Fund are an important part of the school's advancement program. The Annual Fund helps to keep our tuition competitive and to secure the continued growth of the Academy. With the passage of time, attention to the care and maintenance of the buildings and infrastructure of the school is very important and necessary as we forge into the future. Contributions can be directed to any of these areas: Unrestricted (used a the discretion of the school), Spiritual Programs, Academics, Library, Fine Arts and Athletics. Matching Gifts Will your employer match your gift? There are two simple questions that you need to ask yourself: 1. Have I made an Annual Fund gift yet this year? Did you know a matching gift will double or triple your own personal gift recognition? If your Annual Fund gift this year is $250 and: · Your company has a 1:1 match, Villa will receive an additional $250 and you will be listed as a $500 donor! · Your company has a 2:1 match, Villa will receive an additional $500 and you will be listed as a $750 donor! What do I need to do?
